Fascia Board Installation

How to install fascia boards for your Hyperion® composite decking

Overview

A composite decking fascia board skirts around the perimeter of the deck. This provides a seamless look and hides the underlying substructure.
When installing composite fascia boards you must ensure a suitable ventilation gap. This allows air flow around the base of the deck.
  • Hard / concrete foundations: minimum 20mm gap
  • Soft / non-concrete foundations: minimum 40mm gap
Note: Installing fascia boards results in visible screws. If you are concerned about visible screws pick up a pack of coloured screws to make them less visible.

Fascia Board Installation

Step 1

Pre-drill holes

Pre-drill 4mm countersunk pilot holes through the fascia board to avoid material splitting.

Step 2

Line up the board

Line up the top fascia board edge with the top of the decking to hide the grooved decking edge.

Step 3

Fix with screws

Fix in place with 50mm countersunk screws:
  • Fascia boarding should only be screwed in place.
  • It is not recommended to attach the boards using adhesive glue.

Expansion gaps

Ensure you have left appropriate expansion gaps where fascia board ends meet (minimum 0.2% the board length).
