Installation & Maintenance

Aluminium decking boards can be installed directly onto steel beams without the need for steel pedestals or aluminium joists. When it comes to installation, aluminium decking systems are designed for ease. Their lightweight nature simplifies the handling process.
With solid flat foundations and flat roof areas a simple system using MESA adjustable steel support pedestals can be used. These pedestal support centres can be placed straight onto the ground with a protective rubber membrane and their heights adjusted by rotating the pedestal top.

Non-Combustible Substructure

When it comes to constructing a deck with aluminium decking, the underlying strength and safety lie in its intelligently designed metal substructure.
This foundation cleverly combines several key elements. Adjustable steel pedestals form the base, making sure the deck is even and stable. A combination of aluminium joists and joist cradles offer a solid framework that resists wear and tear. And for decks built on slopes, slope-correcting pedestals are a smart solution, levelling out any unevenness.

Alternative Surfaces

While aluminium decking offers numerous benefits, there are other options worth considering for terrace and balcony flooring.
Porcelain paving, known for its sleek appearance and versatility, brings a touch of elegance. It's incredibly durable and resistant to stains, scratches, and fading, making it a practical choice for areas that see a lot of foot traffic.
Fibre cement decking, on the other hand, is gaining popularity due to its unique blend of durability and aesthetic appeal. It mimics the look of natural wood yet stands up well against moisture, insects, and fire, requiring minimal maintenance.

Benefits of Aluminium Decking

Aluminium decking offers several technical advantages and benefits that make it a compelling choice for commercial applications:
  • Durability and Longevity: Aluminium decking is extremely durable and resistant to environmental factors.
  • Low Maintenance: One of the most significant benefits of aluminium decking is its extremely low maintenance requirements.
  • Fire Resistance: Aluminium decking is non-combustible, making it a safer option for buildings where fire safety is a priority.
  • Pest and Mould Resistance: Aluminium doesn't attract pests like termites and is not susceptible to mould or mildew growth.
  • Lightweight: Aluminium is lightweight, making it easier to work with during installation. Despite its light weight, it can support significant weight.
  • Thermal Stability: Aluminium decking does not contract and expand to the same extent as wood or some plastic composites in response to temperature changes.
  • Weather Resistance: Aluminium is an excellent choice for regions with frequent rain, or coastal areas where saltwater might corrode other materials.
  • Slip Resistance: Aluminium decking comes with a textured surface that provides slip resistance, an important safety feature especially in wet conditions.
