Transforming an Overgrown Garden into a Holiday-Inspired Retreat
The townhouse garden had become severely overgrown, with unruly foliage and distressed grass following home renovations. Seeking a calmer, easier-to-maintain space, the clients approached designer Katerina Kantalis to create a Mediterranean-inspired layout. Her plan introduced hardy, colourful plants and defined garden zones to make the area feel open, elegant and welcoming.
Teak Composite Decking and Floating Bench Feature
To achieve the warm, relaxed atmosphere, Katerina used Frontier Teak composite decking to build a large L-shaped floating bench, which acts as a year-round focal point and links seamlessly with the home’s interior tones. Neutral paving, porcelain pathways and raised beds filled with ferns, grasses, and acers complement the design. The result is a cohesive, low-maintenance garden with gentle lighting, creating two inviting seating areas for the family to enjoy throughout the seasons.
