Replacing Decayed Timber with a Modern Terrace Solution
The existing rooftop terrace was in a degraded state, the timber decking had weathered badly, with rot and algae undermining both appearance and safety. The terrace was monotonous, lacking greenery or design elements to make it inviting. The client saw an opportunity to breathe life into it, turning it into a place where staff could gather, relax and reconnect with nature in the heart of London’s cityscape.

Stone Composite Decking & Integrated Planting Strategy
Designer Maïtanne Hunt selected stone composite decking in rich grey tones for its visual balance of modernity and warmth. The boards’ wood texture adds tactile interest while maintaining a subdued palette. The design pairs the decking with raised planters in complementary grey, sunken planting zones, and a lush planting scheme to soften the hardscape and foster a tranquil retreat.
